TOURISM AS STRATEGIC DETERMINATION OF PALILULA DEVELOPMENT

At 14th `International Fair of tourism and active vacation`, that takes place in Nis in Cair hall April 4-6 2013, according to tradition its tourist potentials represented also Palilula Municipality. Fair exhibition area was visited by also by Boban Dzunic, president of the Municipality with his associates and representatives of economical and tourist organizations who work on Municipal territory. For the representatives of media Municipal president held the press conference.

One of strategic determinations of Palilula is according to Boban Dzunic development of tourism and catering. The advantages for tourism development, beside traffic position, represent many natural and cultural goods like cultural manifestations. Green surface of Palilula makes first of all memorial complex of Bubanj park with 40 hectares surface. Selicevica mountain is one great boulders type mountain, very rich in springs and in biggest part covered with forest, very nice for one day trips. Because of its unique beauty, characteristic relief, rich flora and fauna and for the keeping and protection of value of this area the current is considering of proposal on declaring Selicevica national park.

There is also Monastery of Gabrovac today transformed into The Holly Trinity Church. According to certain historical data it was built back in 13 century. From the manifestations in culture the most significant is Palilusko Vece – The Night of Palilula that takes place every June 3 and represents one of the most popular manifestations during Days of Saint Emperor Constantine and Helen in Nis. According to the words of Municipal president, Palilula is transforming itself in touristic sphere very fast. We are conscious of the fact that economic development of this area, emphasizes Dzunic, depends first of all capability of the community that rationally engage all material and specially human resources. That is why we offered strategic priorities to potential donors that realistically can be realized in the coming period of our development.

Palilula Municipality today is one of five municipalities of the City of Nis. It is situated in the south part of the City of Nis and consists of narrow city part that is also spreading to 15 rural settlements-villages with over 80, 000 citizens. Palilula Municipality is natural and geographic combination of low land (river basin of Nisava and Juzna Morava rivers) and hill-mountainous relief .
